Hi,
I am trying to use the yeast cropping feature for the first time but struggling to follow it.
We received a fresh pitch (an ingredient inside brew with a quantity and cost) that we added all of to a batch. We then create a yeast vessel and cropped some volume into that.
This help doc suggests that we should be able to split the cost over a forecasted number of brews but i cant see that anywhere?
The first batch with all the yeast added shows all the cost of the yeast added to it.
Hi Adam, Thanks for your comment! When creating a yeast batch in Breww, the yeast stock item should be added to the yeast batch, and not the beer batch. If you head to the Actions tab on the beer batch and reverse the Ingredient batch extracted action. If you then select the Ingredients tab on the beer batch, and remove the quantity added of the yeast stock item.
Following this, head to Production → View → Yeast/ingredient batches → Start new batch. You will then be able to create your yeast batch, and during this creation flow, there will be a screen for Purchased yeast used. Here, you will be able to add your yeast stock item to the yeast batch, and then fill in the Over how many beer batches would you like the stock item’s cost distributed? field.
If you then go to the yeast batch, select Actions → Add to beer batch, and add it to the beer batch. A proportion of the yeast batch’s cost will be attributed to the beer batch. You will then be able to extract this from the beer batch as you did previously, and the next time you use the yeast, a proportion of its cost will be added to the next beer batch.
I hope this helps, and let me know if you need anything else. Cheers!
Ah OK.
Think I got it. Only thing that didn’t work for me was I couldn’t set a Gen 0 for the fresh pitch had to set it to 1.
