There are times when I optionally add ingredients during a batch to make gravity or pH adjustments during the brew. I prefer to log these adjustments as part of the brewing process in Breww rather than adding additional ingredients on the main batch screen. I have this set up and working with one small nit: I can’t add an ingredient to a recipe with a quantity of zero and therefore have to enter a quantity of .0001 as the smallest possible amount. See attached screen shot. Would it be possible to add zero for an ingredient quantity when designing recipes thereby making it truly optional?

It would be great to have optional actions in recipes (for example, a 50°C step or adding n mL of enzymes if the beta-glucan content in malt is higher than x).

Good news, Jeff - this is now live 
Recipe steps can be marked as Optional, and an optional ingredient addition can have a quantity of 0, so there’s no need for the 0.0001 workaround any more. Mark the ingredient addition as optional in the recipe, and it will accept a quantity of 0.
On the brew sheet, an optional step you don’t need can be marked as Deliberately skipped, so it’s clear it was a decision rather than something forgotten.
Jacques-Marie, this also covers optional actions such as an extra rest or an enzyme addition: add them to the recipe as optional steps and skip them on the brew day when they aren’t needed.
