Move multi-pack between locations by scanning with phone app

Hello Breww team,

We are struggling to use the Breww app for moving product between locations at our main brewery site.

We’ve just started using Breww about two months ago. Up until recently, we had been thinking that we could just use the “Containers” tab in the Breww app to easily move product from our main cold-box to the taproom cooler. We bought a thermal transfer labeler, and all our trays have been labeled with Breww labels to enable this. We wanted to go live with this approach next week. However when we went to test this, we were surprised to find the app only works this way for tracked kegs, and not for any other finished goods items.

Without the ability to scan multi-pack from one location to another, we’re a bit stuck. There are a lot of “casual” Breww users at our brewery who move beer from the coldbox to the taproom on an ad-hoc basis (mainly taproom servers but also others sometimes). We can’t realistically expect these users to create and deliver a stock-transfer-order or even execute a single stock move in Breww whenever they do this - they are very busy serving customers and we probably shouldn’t add this to their plate.

As an Alberta brewery, our retail taproom is required to buy product from our Class E manufacturing license whenever we move product from the main cooler to the taproom cooler. This means it’s critical to record any movements between the two locations. Since we switched to Breww, we have been using a web-form for this to allow our staff to record movements, but it’s not at all ideal (lots of extra work, and really hard to keep our inventory levels “live”).

I’d propose adding a product movement feature to the mobile app. We’d like to be able to scan one label for a product, tell Breww how many we’re transferring, what the destination location is, and have it just move the product to the proper location… similar to what can be done containers. It would need to be super quick & easy for our busy taproom staff to use. The way tracked containers are done is almost perfect (would just need to add the quantity and origination/destination points).
Is this doable?
Thanks,

Dave

Thanks for putting this forward, Dave, and for all the details.

This should be possible, yes. We’ll take a look and see how easy this is to do as it could potentially be a quick-win, depending on how some of the existing stuff works behind the scenes. But it might be a larger project than I’m hoping that it is!

Ok sounds good, let us know!
In the meantime I built a custom app to use, which just populates an Excel sheet with product movements. It’s an extra step but it works for now.
Thanks,
Dave

This would be great. Please make this a priority. This will save a tremendous amount of time tracking transfers from the main storage area into our tasting room/retail space and ensure Breww is able to automatically fulfill POS transactions from appropriate inventory

Hey Luke, just wondering about this one… I’d heard there might be some progress being made?
Thanks,

Yes, work has started on this. I don’t like to promise dates as I’ve been stung too many times before by unexpected delays, but this is in progress, so hopefully it won’t be too far away.

This app update has been pushed :tada:

The completely overhauled (and in our opinion greatly improved) stock move tool is in the next app update! We’ve pushed the latest version to both Apple and Google to approve and release via the App/Play store. They usually take 1-3 days to approve updates, but they don’t guarantee a timeframe.

Keep an eye out for app version 2.13.0 to take advantage of this new feature

Nice! we’ll give it a try next week. Thanks!!
