Zebra Printing Issue

We’re just getting setup with a Zebra ZD421T printer using Zebra compatible resin and 1” x 2” w labels. I’ve run a good print test with the Zebra through the Zebra Printer Setup App and once been able to connect the Breww iOS app to the printer.

The Breww iOS app searches for Zebra printers when I pull up a barcode for a particular container or when I select “Print Container Labels” but 9 times out of ten comes up with nothing.

Anyone else have issues like this with Breww unable to find a Zebra printer?

Are you using Bluetooth or Wifi to connect to your printer?

Right now Bluetooth. I am waiting on the wifi chip to instal on the printer, maybe that should resolve the issue?

Thanks for getting back to me.

While we support Bluetooth, we recommend Wifi over Bluetooth, as it can be slow and takes time to print a single label because of the limitation on Bluetooth transfer speed.

Wifi/LAN is recommended as it is fast. If your printer has an Ethernet/LAN port, you can try that.

Also to add, iPhones/iPads have issues detecting the Zebra Bluetooth. You might get better luck in the meantime with Android if that’s an option.

Ok - we’re now configured via wifi and it does work much better.

In reading through the support documentation on thermal printers and labels generated by breww, it appears there is no way to modify the container label template generated by Breww?

Great!

You’re right, you can’t currently edit the permanent container label template in Breww, only the stock labels.

However, the permanent labels are simply an “Aztec” type barcode containing the container’s code, but Breww will also read a number of other barcode types, including QR codes, so you could create your own label outside of Breww and Breww will read them. You wouldn’t be able to print these using the Breww app, this would be completely outside of Breww. If you do this, be sure to test it first!
