Variety Case - Advanced Stock Selection (Limited Edition Products)

Basic concept would be when creating a new Mixed/Variety case product, the component beers are not so fixed, currently this forces new products to be made or manual changes on fulfilment.

If we could select a larger pool of beers the system would then choose from this pool working down the list top to bottom by priority, ignoring any options that are fully depleted of stock.

The main purpose of this would be for better functionality around seasonal or limited edition products that are still sold in certain mixed packs.

Example:

Mixed Case 12 Pack - (Maximum of 3 per beer)

Beer Pool (Stock in Brackets)
Beer A (100)
Beer B (200)
Beer C (0)
Beer D (150)
Beer E (200)
Beer F (250)

The system would work down the list and select the products automatically as follows:
3 x Beer A
3 x Beer B
3 x Beer D
3 x Beer E

Beer C being out of stock and Beer F being too low priority to be selected until another product runs out of stock.

Thanks for the suggestion, Josh.

This is very similar to, and would have the same “sticking point” as Ability to edit mixed pack products. I appreciate that this is slightly different, so I’m happy to keep them as separate requests, but I do want to be upfront that this isn’t something that can easily be implemented, for the reasons mentioned in the other thread. This doesn’t mean it can’t ever be solved, but it’s not likely to be in the short-term plan.

It also potentially overlaps with Bundles - keg/cask/smallpack/stock item mixed components product, so I wanted to link the two for our future reference.

Thanks!
