The option exists to require the Sellar integration in Breww to “Import all orders”.
As it stands, under this setting, Sellar orders that are “Requested” (but not confirmed) would be imported and appear as Confirmed in Breww. I’m told ( Another Sellar / Breww question - unconfirmed order? - #2 by luke ) that this is to help prevent integration orders from being edited within Breww
Accordingly, we’ve set the integration to “Only import orders that have been confirmed in Sellar” so as to remove the temptation to process orders that are awaiting settlement of a proforma (for instance)
There’s a couple of problems with this:
Firstly, this means that folks here have to manually check Sellar for un-confirmed orders, rather than using Breww as their principal “workspace” and accessing Sellar orders only via the Breww order.
Secondly, (although I might be wrong about this - please correct me) I’d be concerned that this creates a window where Sellar & Breww’s view of stock can be inconsistent.
Strikes me that there’s a third state for an (integration) order that isn’t being reflected in Breww. I get that integration orders shouldn’t be editable, so Breww’s " Draft" state (as it stands) isn’t appropriate. But it’s making a liar of Breww to say that these orders are “Confirmed”.
Right. In that case, this is breaking the “promise” that the integration syncs stock between Breww and Sellar. Granted, we’ve asked Breww to break its own promise by choosing the option - so I’m not calling it a bug or anything - but it’s less than ideal.
As a minimum, would it be possible for the Integration order “banner” (This order was imported from Sellar and so most details cannot be modified within Breww. ) to flag up that the order is un-confirmed in Sellar? Do you get that from their api?
And, obv, to reflect confirmation when that happens.
If that’s likely to be easier, I’m happy to bin / re-title this FR in favour of something more do-able.
To summarise the current position: We can either have Breww misrepresenting Sellar orders as confirmed, or being wrong about stock levels. Not great is it?
I disagree that Breww is misrepresenting the Sellar order status. Breww doesn’t make any attempt to represent the Sellar order status. Just because we use the term “Confirmed” for one thing and Sellar also uses this term, doesn’t mean that they are linked.
Breww has some order statuses. Sellar has some order statues. But they’re not connected to each other. Sellar just works differently from Breww (e.g. Breww can understand part-paid orders but Sellar is just paid/unpaid, and Sellar has a concept of a “Requested” order but Breww doesn’t).
If you want to know the status of a Sellar order, check Sellar, not Breww. I’m still happy for this feature request to be here to consider how this can be improved in the future, but we don’t consider this to be a bug.
That’s proper humpty-dumpty stuff there.
This is really my point. Breww should correctly represent the Sellar order status. (i.e. the status of orders made in Sellar) In one way or another.
I feel Breww shouldn’t (via an integration) do something that the user shouldn’t do.
Confirm an order when you are happy that, provided nothing changes, it is all good to deliver. This way your delivery team know it’s ready to go. Confirmed orders can be moved back into draft at any moment (with the exception of orders created by an external sales platform integration), so if a customer phones up to change their order it’s not a problem. Orders cannot be delivered until they have been confirmed.
So, in Breww, I guess “Confirmed” means (a) Not directly editable and (b) “good to deliver”.
If we set the integration to Import all orders, the integration is Confirming an order without knowing that it’s “all good to deliver”. But, as above, this is telling our “delivery team” that the orders are ready to go (whether or not all are - and the delivery team won’t be checking Sellar)
This obviously requires we set “Only import orders that have been confirmed in Sellar”. But this breaks stock sync-ing.
Apologies if this is getting a bit repetitive, but this is a genuine issue for us here. I’m trying to get folks to consider Breww as the primary source for wtf is going on, and this kind of quirk isn’t helping.
