I’m looking for a refinement of the Products Available for Sale report currently built as it does not accurately show our available stock when we have reserved sixtels that need to be made, and will need to be made from half barrel stock. The half barrels do not get shown as reserved or “pre-consumed” so it’s misleading to look at the report and see more available half barrels than we actually have.
We have half barrels in stock, and are planning to package some of these into sixtels to fulfill confirmed orders. However, the Products Available for Sale report does not reserve the relevant half-barrel stock for those future sixtels, so the half barrels are still appearing as fully available, whereas in fact we couldn’t sell that many because they will be required to fill the sixtels.
At the moment, the report doesn’t support this kind of cross-container reservation logic. Having this cross-container reservation logic would be an awesome time saver and transparency tool across our company
At the moment, Breww would know you didn’t have enough sixtels available (for example) but wouldn’t know how you planned to resolve this. Are you planning to package some from a new batch or create them from half barrels, or even another size of keg?
Your request would likely only be possible to implement if you could define rules like “Whenever I need sixtels and don’t have planned packagings for them, assume I’ll package them from half barrels”. But then what if there’s no half barrels, would you use quarter barrels? What if you needed a half barrel but only had sixtels, would you combine them to make a half barrel?
My point is that this is an extremely complex request (not just the report refinement that it might look like at first) and so I wanted to be upfront that it’s unlikely to be something that is implemented in the short term.
Having said this, thank you for putting it forward. If it picks up lots of votes, it’s certainly something that we will investigate further.
I certainly see the complexity. We aren’t super complicated, but I imagine taking in to consideration all edge cases for other breweries would get lengthy.
I wonder for our particular case if having the report show the negative/reserved sixtels would be possible instead? That would at least give our sales/managers a visual cue that there are sixtels confirmed for sale even though they do not exist yet. They would still need to follow up with production to see if there is a planned packaging, or if they need to decrement from the packaged halves, but that honestly would be a great benefit to us.
Basically showing a display of the Products screen filtered for stock above 0, but also taking in to account the filter for reserved stock above 0.
As this request is extremely complicated and the other should go a long way to solving your reason for wanting this, I think it makes sense to close this one. If you don’t agree, please let me know! Thank you.
