Link products to a specific fulfilment site

It would be great to be able to assign a default fulfilment site at the product level.

For example, event tickets linked to “The Barn” site would automatically be fulfilled from that site, without needing to manually amend each order. This would be particularly useful for non-physical products such as event tickets.

Thanks for the suggestion, Liam. My concern here is what to do if an order has conflicting options, such as:

  • The customer can only use Site 1, but they have a product in the order that can only use Site 2.
  • The order has two products, one can only use Site 1 and the other only Site 2.

Which rule wins and which is ignored? I’m open to suggestions on how we could tackle this situation.

Hi Luke

Is it possible to have all sites sit under an over riding location site? for example we have wine in site 1 cider in site 2 and tickets in site 3 but the location is actually the same place but the products are separated. So as well as having sites we could also choose to have a over ride locations of “Kentish Pip” for example.

So customers could choose to purchase wine and cider and a ticket for an event all in one order but Breww then pulls the stock from multiple locations into the order.

Thanks for the reply, Liam, but I must admit, I’m not quite following you.

Breww already has the concept of Locations. Locations are subdivisions of Sites. Stock is stored at Locations (and therefore inherit the applicable Site). Orders are fulfilled from a single Site (but can use multiple Locations within that Site).

  • Sites - Sites in Breww represent physical buildings, such as a warehouse.
  • Locations - Locations in Breww are subdivisions of “Sites” and allow you to have more granular control of where stock is located within a specific “Site”.

See Breww glossary for more on our terminilogy.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like you’re using the terms “site” and “location” interchangeably in your message and not necessarily to mean what these terms mean in Breww. Would you mind rephrasing your question to help me understand? Thank you.

So essentially we have 3 businesses that are separate in name but all fall under one umbrella - “H mount and sons”. we have wine (Woolton wine), cider (Kentish Pip) and Hospitality (The Barn). The stock for each of these is kept in separate sites.

What we would like is when a product is purchased for hospitality (ticket for an event) Breww knows that this product is linked to site the Barn. Currently sites are only able to be linked by customer so when a customer buys a ticket it links it to our main site which is Unit 10 and 14.

So when we have an event on and sell hundreds of tickets i then need to go in manually and change the fulfilment site on each order to “The Barn” this is very time consuming. we do not want this product linked to site unit 10 and 14 as these orders do not get fulfilled until the day of the event when the customer arrives.

So if we leave them in Unit 10 and 14 we have hundreds of open sales orders and its hard to find the sales of cider or wine.

So what we would like is if we could link tickets directly to a site and when a customer places an order for tickets the order goes directly into fulfilment site “The Barn”

Ok, thanks Liam. That makes sense and I can see why this would be helpful for you.

I must admit that it sounds like a situation very specific to you, and I’m still not sure how to overcome the conflict problem that I highlighted above. Without a clear idea on how best to handle the conflicts, it’s not something we can implement.

I’m happy to keep this request open for votes/thoughts from other people, other use cases and how to resolve the conflict issue.

In the meantime, you could consider using 3 locations within a single site as an alternative that might help. It might be worth talking this though with our support team to see if this could work for your set up.
