How to dry-hop in Breww

Hi there,

Our brewery just got on board with Breww, and I’m lacking some options (defined as stages in Breww) in batch scheduling, especially dry-hopping, spunding, chilling etc. compared to our old brewery management system.

What’s the status on this request?

It would be lovely if stages were visible in the batch schedule, eg. dry-hop visible on day 7, getting an action alert on day 7 to dry-hop and then be able to complete/tick off that task and take the hops off of the stock. Is this even possible now?

If this is still under development, how would I go about performing a dry-hop in the system, so hops (with specific lot numbers) are drawn from inventory? We would need this both for inventory management, scheduling and cost calculation of batch.

It’s really hard to test out if custom stages (like dry-hopping) are set up correctly, without starting a new batch, which is really hard to undo and delete from the system.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the question, Andreas.

I’ve moved your question from the feature request thread as most of it relates to the use of Breww’s existing features and having it in the Help & advice category will ensure the right team can help you.

Don’t worry; it’s totally possible to handle dry-hopping in Breww already. Someone from the right team at Breww will get back to you with answers to your questions shortly.

The feature request is regarding showing stages (that can already be created/used) on the batch schedule. This is a request with lots of votes and something that we’re keen to implement, but I cannot share any information at this time on when this feature will be available, I’m sorry.

Hi Andreas! You can dry hop in Breww by including the dry hop addition in a ‘post-brewing’ stage on a recipe. You can then create a ‘Planned’ batch of the beer using this recipe. If you have chosen to pre-allocate or auto-allocate ingredients and it is enabled on the recipe stage, then this will be automatically drawn from your hop inventory based on FEFO. If you have chosen not to auto-allocate stock, then this will instead display as ‘yet to be added’ on the batch. You can then mark stages as complete in your brew sheet, and manually add the stock required (this is discussed in this guide: Brew sheets). So, whilst ‘dry hop additions’ are not displayed on the batch schedule, planned batches will show, which can have an assigned recipe, including the dry hop additions. Let me know if you need anything else! Cheers!
