Breww stocks don't work for us on dry hopped beers

Quite often it is difficult to manage stock levels of hops when we have a beer that needs dry hopping. Breww removes the stocks from inventory at the start of the brew. But it can be up to two weeks before we need to use the actual hops for the brew. In the meantime it is quite likely that we will have used the hops for something else and when it comes to dry hop day we don’t have enough hops left for the recipe. Is there a way there could be a feature that delays the use of the dry hops until later? Or somehow telling us that the dry hops are still to be used?

Thanks for the suggestion, Ben.

If I’ve understood you correctly, you can do this already. We would recommend solving this by ensuring that all dry hops are in their own Recipe stage. On this stage, you can then make sure that the Stock can be auto-allocated for this stage box is not checked. This will prevent these ingredients from being auto-allocated at the start of the batch, and so you’ll keep the stock “in stock” until you manually allocate them later on.

The pre-brew stock check also understands this approach and will know that these ingredients haven’t yet been used but will be soon. Be sure to mark them as added on the “Brewing” page to keep the pre-brew stock check accurate.

If you don’t think this solves your request, please let me know why and we can help you to find a solution. Cheers.

@ben-jennison-phillip We think that Breww can do what you need to here without needing this feature request. Please do let us know if we’re mistaken and if you still think that changes are needed to cover your use case (or if my suggestion above does solve your issue).

If we don’t hear from you for a couple more weeks, we’ll close this feature request. Thank you.
