Exporting a report to excel and opening in google sheets opens an old report

When exporting the All Sales report for custom dates, I often find an old version of the report being loaded when opening the export.

I’m using chrome, running on a chromebook, so I’m wondering if the limited excel version that initially loads, before converting to google sheets, has been cached. Clearing my cache has no effect though.

Anyone have any ideas how I can solve? Or a work around that doesn’t involve me copy and pasting from the native table in Breww?!

I’m sorry you’re having an issue here.
After looking into this, the most common reason is caching confusion, where the file name is the same, but the file name has the date and the minute in it to help with exactly this issue.
This is the only thing we can actually do from the Breww side.

There are a couple of things you could try:

  1. Use Files app to open instead of letting Chrome auto-open the file:
    Go to the Files app on your Chromebook.
    Navigate to “Downloads”.
    Manually open the newly exported file - this ensures you’re not re-opening a cached one via Chrome.

  2. Convert after upload, not auto-open
    Upload the downloaded .xlsx file to Google Drive manually.
    Then right-click → Open with Google Sheets (not double-click, which sometimes triggers cached previews).
    This forces a fresh import/conversion each time.

Thanks for this Matt. I couldn’t make either of these work as the link doesn’t actually download a file, rather opens a preview (which is what seems to be cached).

I have found a workaround though for anyone else having the same problem. You just need to open Breww in an incognito window to avoid caching, sign in to google (otherwise you won’t be able to convert the preview to a google sheet) and carry on as normal from there.

Thanks for the info; pleased to hear you’ve found a workaround. There are Chrome extensions that could help, but as I don’t have the same issue it’s not possible to know if they’ll help! If you search for Excel viewer in Chrome extensions (or click here), it might be worth trying a few to see if they can get you around it.
