Define whether a product can be packaged only, sold only or both sold and packaged

I was looking at racking options and I noticed that there was the available packaging option of 12x330ml cans as a case.
This is an option we created as a product to be sold in the bar but duty wise and stock wise I only want to track individual cans. Is there a way to remove the 12x330ml can option just so there is no user error when people check stock back in from our canning partners.

If you don’t expect to sell this product again, you can mark it as obsolete and it will no longer appear on the list, however, this will prevent you from adding it to orders again too.

If you need to still sell the item, but don’t want it to ever be packaged/racked directly, we would need to look at adding an option on a product like “Prevent packaging directly to this product”.

Is this what you’re looking for?

Hey Luke,
Seems like there are possibly three more or less identical FR’s (this one, plus these two others):

(which I created before seeing the others)

and

Just noting this here, in addition to on the other FR’s - sorry not sure what the right protocol is for communicating the need for merging topics. Don’t mean to plug up your inbox.
Thanks,
Dave

Great news! This has now been implemented. When creating or editing a product, you’ll now see the option to mark the product as packaged-only or sold-only.

This would be more useful if we could change it via the bulk product updater. I don’t think we can? I’ve got 84 multipack products which I’d have to change one at a time. (I’m not going to do that)

Using the product updater would be super helpful for us as well.
But thanks for making this happen!! this is going to help lots, even in its current form.

(it is painful for us too. We’re in that ballpark for number of products we’ll have to change manually)

I can see your pain; we’ll look at adding this field to the bulk updater shortly! I’ll let you know

You can now edit this field in the bulk updater. Thanks for the feedback, we hope this helps!

Awesome. Thanks!!! this helps so much.

Hey Matt,
Just something to put on your long term radar - maybe down the road, you could have tick boxes for which sites the product can be sold from, or else which price-lists it can be sold using. This would let users really dial in what products show up when making orders. Just an idea… I can put it in a new FR if you like.
Thanks
Dave

Sorry, one more comment - is there a way to expose the “Package Only” products to allow them to be added to Stock Transfers Orders? It looks like they currently are not allowed, which does limit the usability of this feature a bit.
Thanks,
Dave

Thanks Dave, could you add this comment to this request? It’s similar in that it’s a more dialed-down version of this so we’ll probably look to solve them together.

Yes we’ll sort this; it was probably an oversight that package-only products were hidden here!

Sorry Dave, I just went to look into not being able to add them to stock transfer orders, but it appears you can. Please can you check again?

I just checked -
Yes, you are correct that we can add to stock transfer orders when the STO is first created. However if after creating the STO, I click “Revert to draft” and then try to add items, the Package-Only products do not show up in the list. Is there a way to have them show up there as well?
Thanks,
Dave

Ah yes sorry I missed when reverting it to a draft and editing!
I’ve allowed packaged-only products to be added here too. This change will go live shortly.
Thanks for letting us know
