We have a dedicated site setup on Breww to handle stock and deliveries to certain postcodes via a 3rd party (who we stock transfer to).
For new customers, it would be a super handy feature if Breww can automatically set their fulfilment site when they’re being created, determined by their postcode/location.
We’ve added a second porterage 3PL partner to our distribution, so am giving my original post a bump - would be great to see this feature to help with setting customers up for the correct warehouse.
Could this be a feature that is attributed to a delivery area settings?
e.g. in the same way as we can define a van for the route, we can also define a fulfilment site. Thoughts?
Do you think delivery rules work for you here (if it was possible for a delivery rule outcome to stipulate the fulfilment site)? I think this might be a better approach that tying the site directly to the delivery area approach (and rules can already filter based on delivery area).
If the site is linked to the delivery area, there could be some confusion over whether the site already chosen via other existing methods allows only related delivery areas to be applicable, or the delivery area drives the site selection (what you suggested). Using delivery rules to dictate the site would remove this ambiguity and allow for even more complex site selection rules.
