Allow payment links to accept part-payment via Stripe, with the user entering the amount they'd like to pay

Hi Luke

Wondering if there’s an option with the Stripe integration for customers to part pay some of an invoice?

This would really useful for customers paying a deposit against an invoice and customers with limits on their card payments (we have one pub co customer with a £500 limit on their card and we have to send them multiple smaller invoices).

There’s not currently, Jack, but this would make a good feature request :+1: I presume this is for “payment links” rather than for the trade store?

Adding some further info here.

Would be great to be able to take deposits on orders via the stripe integration so the sales team can see if deposits have been paid on orders without needing access to our bank feed.

Stripe appear to have this functionality available through their API under payment plans and even a deposit functionality, details here. This would also be very useful for the contract brewing side of our business where we take deposits on all orders.

Would you want to specify how much the customer needs to pay initially as a deposit? Or just let them type in the amount they want to pay? It would be easier for us if we just let the person paying type in how much they want to pay now (and we allow any number up to the total amount outstanding).

Fortunately, we shouldn’t need to use that Stripe feature as we can handle this in Breww (and you probably don’t want us to, as you’d have to subscribe to the Stripe Invoicing addon at 0.4% - 0.5% on top of your current Stripe fees to use deposits).

Ideally we’d like to be able to specify the deposit amount i.e. 50% but would be happy too if the customer is allowed to choose their payment amount.

Are open banking connection payments possible with the stripe integration as a payment type when customers open their invoice. Would be great to have this addition as some customers may not have their bank card but access to their online/mobile banking.

Makes sense on the Stripe invoicing fees, would start to make the costs a bit prohibitive.

Regarding:

Not currently, but I believe Stripe has added this as an option very recently (last couple of months). Sadly, that doesn’t mean it will suddenly “just work” with Breww, but it should make it much easier for it to be added as it can share a lot of the groundwork done for card payments. Would you mind opening a new feature request for this so we can review adding support? Cheers!
