The deals tab for accojunts has the option to add a monetary value but not a percentage discount. Could this be added
Thanks for raising this feature request, Simon.
I’m sorry if I have misunderstood your request, but I’m not sure what you’re asking for here.
For context, deals are not how discounts are applied. For more on what deals are, please see the Create deals for customers and leads to track expected future spend/volume help guide.
Discounts can be applied directly to order lines or to price books and can already be fixed amounts or percentages.
Could you confirm what extra functionality you’re looking for here? Thank you.
@simon-white1, could you please get back to me on the above?
I wanted to check something with you regarding how discounts are handled in the system. For our group customers we’ve set up separate price lists in Breww, and when raising invoices the correct discounts are applied automatically. This works really well.
However, we also have a number of non‑group customers with just one or a few outlets where we’d like to offer a simple percentage discount. In these cases it isn’t really practical to create and maintain separate price lists for each customer.
The “Add deal” option would be ideal for this type of situation, but at the moment deals can only be set up as volume‑based or flat‑rate offers. What we need is the ability to apply a percentage discount as a deal for a specific customer over a set period.
Is this something that could be supported, or is there a workaround we may have missed?
Thanks for getting back to me, Simon.
Firstly, “Add deal” couldn’t be used here. Deals have nothing to do with pricing (even if you use the existing fixed value deals). I’m highlighting so you don’t use them for this purpose - they won’t result in discounts on orders. Please see the help guide I linked to in my last reply to read about what “Deals” are in Breww.
That aside, there are two ways to look at what you’re trying to achieve:
-
We have a feature request on the list for exactly this sort of thing, and it would cover this situation (simple percentage discount) when implemented, as well as much more - see here. It might be worth a vote from you.

In the meantime, your only solution (other than manual discounts on each order) is to use price books. I’d suggest you re-consider this approach, as this is how most people handle this. I don’t know how many different discount levels you offer, but I think your concerns about the level of maintenance this would require are overly cautious, to be honest.
Let’s say that you have customers on 5%, 7%, 10%, etc discounts. Instead of creating a price book per-customer, create a price book per discount level and then assign these to the customers. This should reduce the total number of price books required.
I suspect more of your “maintenance” concern is keeping all the prices up-to-date? If so, it sounds like you’re setting the price of each product explicitly on each price book. Instead, you can create a derived price book and add a price book rule that applies the right discount percentage to all products in the price book. This is only a few clicks to set up per price book, and as you change the parent price book’s prices (the one that the derived price book is based on), the discounted prices will automatically be updated for you. This means there isn’t really any ongoing maintenance to do.
For more, please see our price books guide - specifically creating derived price books and adding rules.
Does this cover what you’re looking for, or are you still concerned about the level of maintenance required if using price books? If so, can you share more on why?
@simon-white1, please let me know if you are still looking for something here, or if my suggestion above covers what you need.
Closing on the assumption nothing more is needed.
