Additional option when performing pre-brew stock check to allow a range of two dates. This would be very helpful when conducting raw material forecasts for suppliers (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4).
Thanks for the suggestion, Casey.
This idea has been suggested before - Pre brew Stock check start date - and it didn’t really make sense to me at that time, to be honest. I never got a response to my question at the time, so the feature request was closed.
The pre-brew stock check is based upon “I have X in stock at the moment and I will need Y for my planned batches”. But from what you’ve said, are you simply looking for “How much of each ingredient will I need to brew all batches between two dates?” - i.e. your starting stock levels irrelevant?
Hey Luke, yes correct. If we input "planned brews onto Breww until December 2024 lets say, then it would be very helpful to pull a report or pre brew stock check between say Oct-Dec to give me the Q4 total quantity that we would require from the supplier.
This is important so that we can negotiate the best price from our suppliers based on a total annual requirement, but also means that for some of our suppliers where the raw ingredients come from Mexico for example, then it means that have a more accurate picture of planner their import schedules etc. Without this feature it is quite a painstaking process.
Hi Luke,
Is there any update with this as it will help all users plan future forecasting for particular quarters/time periods. At the moment we still are not able to use the full extend of Breww’s capability for closing end of yeah and forecasting for the future year so give suppliers an accurate idea of how much of what we plan to purchase.
There’s no update to report on this yet, sorry. We’re working hard to improve Breww all the time, but with multiple requests coming in every day, it takes quite a bit of keeping up with!

Hi Luke,
We’ve waited quite a while now for this to be reviewed and wondered if there has been any further thought from the Breww developers to implement this?
We are unable to use Breww for yearly forecasting due to this function not being available, limiting us to move more of our operation onto Breww.
Hi Casey,
I reviewed this last year when it was first requested. It’s a good idea, but there has been no further development on it yet. It’s not that we are not reviewing features; it’s just that we have been prioritising building other requests over this one.
Multiple feature requests are posted every single day, and the reality is that we will likely never be able to implement them as quickly as they come in (it’s a lot easier & faster to ask for something than it is for our dev team to implement it). This means that inevitably, the list of requests will continue to grow, despite us implementing new features every single week (at least for the foreseeable future).
The best thing that you (and others) can do is to vote for your most wanted requests. This will help us know what people want the most and to ensure we prioritise as best as possible. Thank you.
Hi @luke, is there any further update on this? It would mean users are able to use Breww more effectively to do annual forecasts and spend more time brewing and focussing on negotiating with suppliers instead of trying to calculate these things manually. If we are using Breww to plan and schedule the runs in, then I makes sense that the Pre-Brew stock check is a tool that can help forecast raw materials in set periods as well.
I also noticed this feature request has never made it onto the email newsletter that is sent out to people, so it would be very hard to make this request known to others without it being given the chance to be seen.
There has not yet been an update on this. If there’s an update, we always post it on the thread.
This is an automated newsletter generated by the software we use to run the community, and the content can vary by recipient. We can’t manually choose to include a thread in the email, I’m sorry.
Hi Luke,
Thank you for explaining that the newsletter is automated, that would explain why I have never seen this Feature Request publicised.
How is this feature request able to get more exposure so people become aware that if the Start Date option is added to the Pre-Brew Stock Check, then they would be able to forecast entirely from Breww and not rely on 3rd party software or old clunky excel sheets? Leaving it up to people stumbling across a feature request makes it very difficult for feature requests to be considered.
There have been far more complex fixes that have been expedited with less votes before, so would really appreciate this request being reconsidered for development and implementation.
