Packaging approvals to be required per container type (kegs, cans, bottles, etc) with variances in parameters

Summary: This request seeks to enhance Breww’s packaging approval system by:

  1. Logging all packaging approval actions in the batch’s “Actions” field for traceability.
  2. Allowing distinct packaging approval parameters for different packaging types (e.g., kegs, cans) within the same batch.

Description:

  • Currently, packaging approvals aren’t recorded in the batch’s action history, hindering tracking.
  • Also, the system lacks the flexibility to apply different approval criteria for various packaging formats (e.g., temperature, carbonation or other parameters that are different for kegs vs. cans) from the same batch, leading to manual workarounds.

Proposed Solution:

  1. Action Logging: Automatically record “Packaging Approved” or “Packaging Approval Revoked” with user and timestamp in the batch’s “Actions.”
  2. Type-Specific Parameters: Enable setting unique approval parameters for each packaging type (kegs, cans, bottles) per batch. The system should apply these automatically during packaging sessions, allowing separate approvals for different formats from the same batch without manual revocation.

Business Impact: This will improve traceability, enhance operational efficiency for multi-format packaging, increase system flexibility, and provide a better user experience.

We are delighted to announce the release of this feature in a big update to Packaging approvals, which includes this feature request :tada:

  • Packaging approvals are now Pre-packaging approvals, as they occur before packaging. You can now also configure Post-packaging approvals (ideal for QC checks).
  • You can choose whether to do packaging approvals on a one-per-batch basis (as they have been up to now) or one-per-planned-packaging (ideal if they need to be done once per day that you package, for example).
  • If you do them on a one-per-planned-packaging basis, you can have different packaging approval templates for different container types (varying the checks when canning vs kegging).
  • There’s a new Packaging tab on the recently updated production dashboard to give you an overview of today’s planned packagings, and those coming up soon.

Please see the updated packaging approvals help guide for more on this major update.

And there is more to come in the world of approvals, so keep an eye on updates.breww.com
