We use component-level costs (tea, sugar, bottles, cans, boxes, etc.) to investigate gross margin. When COGS comes in higher or lower than expected against sales, we need to see which components are driving it.
At the moment, bulk reports only show COGS as high-level Ingredients and Packaging totals. The component breakdown by sub-type is only available in the cost report for an individual batch, so analysing a month or quarter means opening and exporting every batch one at a time.
We’d like the bulk COGS/sales reports to break costs down by stock item sub-type across all batches in a selected period, showing:
cost per component for the period
each component as a % of total COGS
COGS as a % of revenue
Filters by date range, product and drink type would make it usable for month-end review.
Hi Edonita, the new COGS by stock item and utility/other cost report covers everything you listed here. Pick a month or quarter and group by stock item sub-type, and you get the cost of each component across all the batches behind your sales, each as a % of your total COGS and of revenue. You can filter by date range, product and drink type, or group by “Product and stock item sub-type” to see the components product by product.
One thing to be aware of for any batches imported directly into Breww with costs: its cost will show as a single “Initial packaged beer costs” line rather than split into tea, sugar, bottles and so on. Anything brewed and packaged in Breww breaks down in full.
