Hello!
Sure this is an easy one, I just can’t find the answer.
Where do I add a cost for container type?
I want to add our average co2 costs to can and keg container types. I assume that is the purpose of ‘Beer additional cost per container’ and ‘Beer packaging cost per container’ on the stock valuations.
Thanks!
Lewis
Hey Lewis,
You can set these costs by going to the stock valuations page and clicking “Valuation settings”. However, this might not be the right solution to add these costs; depending on how you want to report on the costs. The costs added here are used purely in the stock valuation. Any other product cost reports won’t be affected by these settings.
If you want these costs to be accounted for everywhere, you’d want to add them as stock items, then add these stock items to the relevant container types. If you don’t want to track the actual stock of CO2 you can just add a large quantity of the stock item to stock. A way I’ve seen this done before is to add the stock item as a certain cost of CO2, such as 1p, then add the correct multiple for the total cost per container type. For example, if a container uses 10p of CO2, you’d add it to use up 10 units of the 1p CO2 item.
I hope this makes sense.
