This guide might not be quite right for you as it is aimed at your initial setup.
Once you have imported your suppliers, you can import your stock items. Stock items are the items you purchase in order to produce the products you sell - such as ingredients and packaging. These can also be items you purchase and later plan to sell, for example, glasses and T-shirts. For every stock item, you will now also be able to select from one of the suppliers that you have listed in Breww. A stock item should only be entered into Breww once, and against your primary/main supplier for the stock item for the purposes of importing. Once you have imported all your stock items, you will later be able to select from multiple suppliers for a stock item in the Stock items section of Breww. It is worth noting that this import does not bring in ‘stock’ of your stock items and is for the purpose of stating what your stock items are. To import your stock items, then head to Settings → Data imports & updates → Stock items, and follow the Data import guide.
Stock item products
One of the fields in the Stock items data import is ‘Sell this stock item’. This allows you to create a product that uses the stock item, meaning you can now sell the stock item you have purchased—for example, T-shirts and glassware. By choosing to Sell this stock item, you will be required to enter a standard price, and on completion of the import, you will have a stock item that you can purchase linked to a stock item product you can sell. It is worth noting that this import will only allow you to create a one-to-one link between a stock item and a stock item product (e.g. 1 X Pint glass stock item will equal 1 X Pint glass, stock item product), with its standard sale price, and you will need to head to Products after the import to add any further details, such as its weight and SKU etc. Breww will automatically add a SKU on import, but this can be edited and changed. You can enter further details on the stock item product after import by heading to Products, choosing a product, and selecting Actions → Edit. If you sell a product at varying prices, then you will be able to create your pricing structure later on in the getting started guide for this product.
The Stock item products importer
There is also a stand-alone stock item products importer. This importer allows you to enter stock item products and link them with multiples of the same stock item; for example, you may have a pint glass set up as a stock item, and this importer will allow you to create a stock item product of ‘Pint glasses X 12’, with 12 individual glasses linked to the stock item product.
It is worth noting that any stock item products that use a combination of different stock items (e.g. glass and a t-shirt combo) will need to be created via the Products tab in Breww.
Guest beers
If you buy and re-sell beers from another business, these are also handled differently via a ‘Guest beer’ product in Breww, and these should not be brought into Breww via any of the standard beer importers. Guest beers are made up of a ‘Guest beer’ beer type and a guest beer stock item, which you then sell as a Guest beer product. To create your guest beer stock items when you are just starting, you can simply enter your guest beer on the stock items import and select the ‘Sell this stock item’ checkbox. It is essential that you enter the Type correctly here of Guest beer, so this is classed as a guest beer product in Breww rather than a stock item product.
If you sell a guest beer in multiple formats, you can also choose to group your guest beer products by a special type of beer, titled “Guest beer”, which you can create by heading to Production → Beers → New beer → Guest beer. This step is optional, but if done will allow for better grouping and display of guest beers on the Breww Trade Store, as well as other benefits within Breww (our Breww Trade store is covered later in the getting started guide).
Following this, you will be able to go to Stock items, select a guest beer stock item, and select Actions → Edit, and choose the Associated guest beer, and Guest beer container type. This will group all your stock item products under the Guest beer by packaging format.
Adding additional suppliers of a stock item
Now that you have imported your stock items with their main supplier, you will be able to add additional suppliers to a stock item. If you head to Stock items, select a stock item, and then Suppliers → Add supplier item details, you will be able to add an additional supplier; this can be repeated if you have further suppliers.
