Splitting an order over multiple deliveries

We some times need to split items from an order over multiple delivery days and would like to be able to have just one order but multiple delivery days with multiple delivery notes. Obviously this could feasibly be split across multiple orders, but this would in turn generate multiple invoices but this would not suit our customers.
