Is it possible to get notifications on expired best before/expiration dates on packaged products? Kombucha has a far smaller window of storage than beer and I would like to get notifications on any of my packaged kombucha if they are at the best by date. This will force me to perform QA on my product when I am notified. Searching them all one by one is time consuming.

Hi Keith, Thanks for your comment! There is a Products expiring soon report that should help with this, which you can find under Reporting → Pre-built production & inventory reports. Currently, it isn’t possible to receive automatic notifications for expired or soon-to-expire products, but I can definitely see how this would be a useful addition to Breww. There is already a similar feature request open for this here: BBE Notification if less than 30 days ; if you could add your vote and comments based on your use case, that would be great. Cheers!
Thanks for your response, Ben. I did look at that post but its not quite what Im looking for. I did vote on it, however. I am aware of the reporting tool but thats only useful for when I remember to run it. I suppose I will have to integrate that into my weekly operations. It would be far more convenient to just have a notification on products similar to the stock items that are below reminder levels.
We have been using the ‘Products expiring soon’ report as a strategic overview of what to sell and by when. We have certain customer types (minimarkets and bottle shops) that prefer to have their packaged products with 3 months BBE so that they have enough time to sell them. We’ve found that even with the current process there are multiple times where short dated stock is sneaking through.
Currently, we use the Customer > Customer Types > Edit > Additional best before weeks > negative number of weeks, to group these customer types together but this is only superficial.
Is there a way to add a validation block or push proactive alerts when confirming the orders?
Hi Raphael, Thanks for your comment. There isn’t currently a way for a BBE alert to appear when confirming an order. However, if a customer should receive stock with specific best-before criteria, you could add a customer private alert note by selecting More actions → Add private alert note on the customer page. This means that when an order is raised for that customer, a red alert will appear at the top of the order. If you have any suggestions for how this could be improved, it would be great if you could raise them as a feature request here. Cheers!
