New UK Alcohol Duty online service (Feb 2025)

The new Alcohol Duty online service has now been rolled out, bringing with it some important changes to how UK Alcohol Duty returns are submitted. But don’t worry - Breww has you covered! We’ve updated Breww to ensure submitting your returns remains as easy and stress-free as ever.

What’s changed?

The new Alcohol Duty return format has introduced several key changes that affect how duty-suspended movements, reclaims, and repackaged products are reported. These changes take effect from the February 2025 return (i.e. the one submitted in March 2025). From that return onwards, you will see the following updates to your returns in Breww to match the new reporting requirements:

  • Net duty suspension: Previously, duty-suspended movements were recorded separately for quantities sent, received, and exported. These have now been combined into a single “Net duty suspension” figure.
  • LPA (Litres of Pure Alcohol) precision: LPA values must now be reported to four decimal places instead of two.
  • Reclaim grouping by return period: Reclaims are now additionally broken down by the “Return period affected” when reporting your totals.
  • New category – Repackaged Draught Products: If you repackage products that were originally paid with draught-relief into non-qualifying formats (e.g., bottles or cans), this must now be reported in a new dedicated category, which Breww now also displays as part of your reportable totals.

To make sure your duty returns stay compliant and hassle-free, Breww has seamlessly integrated all these changes. There’s nothing extra you need to do - just keep using Breww as you always have, and Breww will handle the rest!
