Provided that the theoretical max stock figure is being viewed or used for sales integrations, your customers should be able to continue ordering single cans, even if they are all assembled in 12-packs. The theoretical max figure will consider the individual components within your assembled stock and display the amount available for sale if these were to be disassembled into single units; this is discussed further here: Understanding stock levels (quantity in stock & available numbers) for products. You’re right; the re-order notifications apply to stock items only; however, I can definitively see how having ‘low product alerts’ would be useful. We have an open feature request for a similar concept here: Customisable Available Products List / Low product alerts ; it would be great if you could add your vote to this.
