Excise Reporting (Germany)

When I go into the excise menu and click through to look at the data I am taken to the “Products sold (order lines)” report - but there is no option on this report to add in Plato or ABV.

I understand that it does not currently calculate the duty from Plato yet (instead it uses the nominal excise amount) but it would still be good to be able to see it on that report as some of the returns we do are not interested in duty value - purely volume and plato

Thanks Ben. Although these probably feel like simple columns to add, they’re actually quite complicated as we have to handle mixed-packs which may have multiple Plato values for a single product. I appreciate you might not use mixed packs, but others do and we can’t produce an incorrect report for them.

There would be a solution for this, of course, but we’re actually planning to build German duty “properly” imminently, so we think it makes the most sense to just get that project started as soon as we can.

I can’t really give you an exact date for the “proper” Germany duty implementation right now, but it’s very high on the list, so shouldn’t be too long.

Makes sense, looking forward to seeing the proper implementation

Hi Ben - this project is well underway! I was just hoping you could help us with a query we haven’t been able to find the answer to.

The report will show you the volumes dispatched and returned within a given date range, grouped by the batch’s Plato value. In Breww, it’s possible to add Plato values up to two decimal places, but should this be rounded for the purposes of submitting your Biersteuererklärung?

As an example, if you have dispatched stock from a batch at 14.50 °P and another at 14.95 °P, would you round the Plato value of these batches first before calculating the total volume dispatched at each Plato value? And if so, how would you round them?

Thanks in advance, and let me know if I haven’t explained that very well!

Great news!

The Plato is always rounded down - even if it is 12.9 we would still report it as 12.

Perfect, thanks for confirming that!

Good news: Breww now supports German excise duty calculations (Biersteuer) :tada:

You can access it from the tab on the left-hand menu. Then simply enter the date range you’d like to report on, and Breww will generate the total volumes dispatched and returned (steuerpflichtig and versteuertes Rückbier) within a given date range, grouped by the batch’s Plato, including a breakdown of where those figures have come from.

We hope this is a big time-saver, and please let us know your thoughts and feedback!
