we have a question regarding duty rates.
according to this page Login | Breww our duty rate for
Draught below 8.5% is £8.26 and
Non-draught below 8.5% is £9.10
on our duty return for last month this line is shown
Draught between 3.5% and 8.4% ABV with SPR 529.2 21.16 £8.99 £190.22
can you tell me what this refers to?

Hi Paul, thanks for your comment. It sounds like the stock sold on your duty return for last month could have been produced before the 1st Feb. From 1st Feb 2024, beer needs to be paid at the rate that applied at the point it was produced, not the rate that applied at the point it was dispatched. It sounds like the stock sold in February could have been produced before 1st Feb; therefore, this will use last year’s rate, not the rate for beer produced this year.
