Color blindness - the struggle is real

This might be literally the lowest priority request you get but just wondering if you could change your colors a bit in some areas to be a bit more friendly to us “color-challenged” folk. Here’s a specific example:

if I try really hard I can sort of distinguish the red and green but it certainly doesn’t jump off the page. Any way you can make these more distinct? Just darkening the default green color a bit relative to the red would probably help a lot.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Dave. You raise an excellent point!

How do these shades of red/green look to you?

Are they better (I got the colours from an online guide on the topic)?

Yes, these are very discernable to my eye. Hopefully it wouldn’t throw off the “color-gifted” people too much. The new green color doesn’t actually look green to me, which is probably fine (it looks gray). In general, reds and greens are hard for color blind people to distinguish between, especially if they are small patches in a sea of another color (or white). For example, it’s virtually impossible for me to see a red flag for the pin at a golf course… being a tiny red spot in a field of green.
Anyway - yes these colors would work if others would be happy with them.

Thanks, Dave, I appreciate the feedback.

We’re probably going to look to make this a setting so that we don’t need to change the colours for everyone :+1:

You can enable this new setting now from your Profile (click your user photo/initials at the top right of all Breww pages) :tada:

We hope this helps you and many others. Apparently this affects about 8% of men and 0.5% of women, so I’m amazed this is the first time we’ve been asked about this. I’m sure my dad would have complained about this if he’d ever spent any time in Breww :joy:
