At present pallet labels can only be generated once racking is completed. Due to volume and rate of production, we label our pallets as we go so require sequential pallet labels to be issued ahead of each run. Ideally we would generate and print pallet labels in advance based on planned packaging volumes. Racking pallets on BREWW as they are filled is not an option for us as it would require data entry every 10 mins or so for the canning line. I’m really hoping to avoid pallet labels being generated externally as we want as much as possible of our process to be managed from within BREWW to mitigate human error in entering data into multiple locations.
Thanks for the great suggestion, Hannah.
If we were to allow you to print pallet labels in advance of racking, the easiest option for us would be for them to reference empty pallets in Breww (which should be fine in itself). Would you be able to scan these (or enter their codes manually) when inputting the racking into Breww (so we know which of the in-advance-of-racking-pallet-labels where used)? This is similar to how reserved NR labels are used.
Alternatively, Breww could “guess” which pallet labels should be next by assuming you use the labels in sequential order and never miss/lose/etc any. This would be slightly less data input for you, but more prone to mismatches (which might not matter at all unless you are used tracked kegs or specific non-returnable barcodes).
We would be using pallet labels sequentially (it’s what we do now) so the latter option would work for us. For cans there wouldn’t be any scanning so that’s fine. For kegs, we aren’t currently tracking so again it wouldn’t be an issue. Happy to select the used labels at racking stage though as I never saw that as an issue with NR labels in my previous role using Breww.
@hannah-webster1, we’re delighted to confirm that this feature is now in place ![]()
It works by going to a planned packaging (they have their own new page showing more details relating to them) and generating the pallet labels there.
Then, when packaging/racking, you will have the option to choose which planned packaging you are doing. If a planned packaging with pre-printed pallet labels is chosen, Breww will automatically enter the labels into an input to allow you to confirm the labels that have been used. Typically, you’ll just be able to keep the default value in this input, but you can tweak it if needed (e.g. if you switched out a label for a different one as one in the sequence was damaged).
We hope this is helpful ![]()
