Payments not showing/missing from my Stripe account

You can use the Breww Stripe integration to process payments online within Breww. When you set the integration up at IntegrationsPayments, you will be taken through a setup process.

If you already have a Stripe account, when you follow this process (and you log in to this account), this will save you time entering information that Stripe already has. Stripe will, in this case, create another account that’s associated with your primary account and can be accessed using the same Stripe Dashboard login details. We’ll call this your “sub-account”.

If you don’t already have a Stripe account, you’ll create one in the process.

Keep in mind that since the sub-account is separate but linked to your main account, it might seem like payments are not received in your main Stripe account. However, payments processed through the Breww Stripe integration will actually come into the linked account. To view these payments, you will need to access the linked account.

Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Go to the Stripe Dashboard.
  2. Click on the name of your current Stripe account in the top-left corner.
  3. You should see a list of your linked accounts. Choose the appropriate account from there to view the payments received.

By following these steps, you’ll be able to access all payments made through the Breww Stripe integration in your linked account. If you encounter any issues or have further questions, feel free to reach out for assistance.

Stripe’s use of a sub-account is a requirement from them and not something that we at Breww can choose not to use. This also has huge security benefits, as Breww will only have access to manage its own transactions. If you use Stripe already for other payments (such as your B2C your website), Breww cannot access or manage these, and your website platform cannot access Breww’s transactions.

:warning: Never charge cards or refund payments from the Stripe Dashboard

Payments managed by Breww can be taken and refunded directly within Breww (you don’t need to touch them in your Stripe Dashboard). We would highly recommend never manually interacting with them within the Stripe Dashboard as this can lead to Breww and Stripe being out-of-sync. For example, if you refund a payment from the Stripe Dashboard, Breww will not realise it has been refunded, and the customer’s balance will be incorrect. If you have any questions on what can and cannot be done in Breww versus Stripe, please ask us before acting.

Hi Conor,
Thanks for this explanation as we’ve been having some confusion after setting up an integration between Breww and Stripe and not being able to work out where payment is going.
However it seems nothing from our sub account is making it to Xero. Do you know if there is a fix for this?
Thanks,
Matthew

Hi Matthew! I’m glad this article helped! I think we would need to look into an example where the Stripe payment is not uploading to Xero to determine why this is. Would you mind raising a support ticket with an example so we can look into this for you?
