With high gravity brewing, what is the best method to be tracking these volume changes? They would be diluted in BBT so would the volume be manually increased? Would this create issues with any stock items or financial tracking?
I canât see youâd have a problem with just adding volume. Breww wonât automatically recalculate the abv, I donât think, so youâll have to watch that (youâll probably want to have ABV calculation method as âmanually enteredâ, or âAdvertised ABVâ). If you have costs associated with the addition (do you have a cost for de-aerated water or whatever?) then I think you have an option for adding stock items at the volume addition step.
Hi Cassy, Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the community! The best way to do this would be by selecting Actions â Add liquid/volume; you can also add stock items as @jon-kyme2 has suggested. This will increase the volume in the tank, and associated costs will be calculated accordingly based on the amount you package from the new volume. In regards to Jonâs second suggestion, you could have an âAdd waterâ step in your recipe; however, this would just be a prompt to add water to the batch and wouldnât increase the volume in vessel, so the âAdd liquid/volumeâ button would still also need to be used with this. It sounds like the Calculated ABV on merged batches & OG on multi-turn batches feature request may cover what you need in terms of the ABV on high gravity brews; if you could add your comments on this to include calculating the ABV when liquoring back high gravity brews, that would great! Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers!
Ah
, yes, just realised that add water wouldnât save any work, so edited post, sorryâŚ
