It would be useful to include the unit of measure on the Stock Take CSV file so that whomever is taking the stock has a reference to what weight/volume/etc they should use/record the value in.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m sure that we can look at adding this.

Just to confirm, this could be added as a column, however, it wouldn’t be read when importing the file again, so changing the UOM in the file wouldn’t impact the available stock. For example, if you originally had **10kg** of something and changed the UOM to **grams** (leaving the quantity as **10** ), this wouldn’t become 0.01kg. I’d be a little concerned that this might cause confusion and incorrect stock levels, so we would need to be mindful of this when determining how best to implement this.

If anyone else would like to see this, please use the “Vote” button in the top-left.

Hi Luke,

Can’t believe this hasn’t had more votes!
This is a great suggestion @christopher-tkach -

It would be really helpful for the person undertaking the cycle count to know how to record the units (if a different person who is performing the count than usual they might record units in ml rather than litres, or what ever the ‘stock tracking unit of measure’ is setup to be.

Could we just add a column into the stocktake file please?
Thanks

It would be very helpful if we could add a column to the excel spreadsheet generated during stock take that shows the unit type of the stock item. where it is kg or a unit. makes it easier for the team to know what they are counting be it single items or the how many kgs of the items

Hi Luke

What are the chances of this being added to breww? As you decide what stock tracking unit the stock item is when it’s created that information is in the system. is this an easy add to stock take excel file as a column?

We’re working on some stock take tool improvements and hope to include this as part of that project. We’ll let you know when we know more.

🎉 This is now available!

Stock item stock takes have a unit of measure column. Leave it as it comes to count in the unit the item is tracked in, or enter a different unit of the same kind and Breww converts your figure for you. If something is tracked in kilograms and you weighed it in grams, enter 1000 and g, and Breww records 1 kg.

Short forms, long forms and plurals are all understood, whatever the capitalisation, so kg, Kilogram, grams and fl oz all work. The full rules are documented here: [Breww | Stock takes | Help guides](https://breww.com/docs/stock-takes/)

More on this and the other stock take changes here: [Stock takes just got much easier to run](https://community.breww.com/t/stock-takes-just-got-much-easier-to-run/7337)
