Hi,

With the new and improved trade store (Great!) we are running into an problem where we want a packaged beer to be in stock for our sales team to take (pre)orders for but we want it to be shown in the trade store as being available on a specific date in the future.

Currently the only option is to retract the entire product from the stock, but then the amounts disappear for our sales team as well.

Any thoughts?

Hiya - It should already do this if you have a planned packaging date set for the product. It certainly does for us.

Yes, you can put that in planned packaging - that is not my issue.

But once the product is racked it is either in stock or on hold with a release date - in the later case it doesn’t show up for the sales team. or am I missing something.

We are often selling beer that has not been released yet but is packaged, so it is good to keep track those numbers.

I think delayed releases can already do what you need, as long as the order is forward-dated.

Breww treats delayed release stock as expected to be available on its scheduled release date. So if your sales team put a delivery date on or after that date, the beer counts as available, and they can take the pre-order now. Anything dated earlier still shows as unavailable, which is what you’d want.

Worth checking Settings → Products has “Available stock to check planned packagings & delayed release stock” enabled - it’s on by default, and it’s the bit that makes Breww look at the order’s delivery date.

The trade store works off current stock, so customers won’t see it until it’s actually released. That should give you the split you’re after. (If you’d like it showing there a bit early too, there’s a “display available stock level as if X days in advance” option in your trade store settings and per product.)

Can you give it a try and let us know if that does the trick?

@gijs-van-wiechen did you get a chance to check this?

Hi Luke,

Thanks for this - not sure this will sort it for us tbh.

It does not make a distinction between a beer not available because a release is pending or it not being available because it is sold out.

Ideally we would have an additional field on the product page:

Stock for sale (visible as available for sales team and trade store)
Stock on hold/pending release/Planned for packaging (Only visible for sales team)
Ordered
Available
Theoretical Max

Does this make sense?

Thanks Gijs, that makes sense. Forward-dating gets the order through, but it doesn’t show your sales team at a glance whether a beer is at zero because it’s sold out or because it’s packaged and waiting for its release date.

The figures are in Breww today, just not in the main summary. On the product page, the Stock breakdown tab lists “Delayed packaging releases” with the quantity on hold and each release date, and the crystal ball button on the stock card shows the stock level date by date, including pre-orders already taken.

On the trade store, a delayed release behaves like a planned packaging: with “Show the expected back in stock date when out of stock” enabled, the product shows “In stock [date]” rather than “Out of stock” until it’s released.

I agree the on-hold quantity should be easier to see, though, and that the right fix is a “Pending release” figure alongside In stock / Ordered / Available. I’ve re-titled this thread to reflect this, and to hopefully help it gain votes.
