Hey all,

We are looking for a way to add some private notes to an order, without them being presented on invoices or delivery notes. Our sales team is mainly collaborating through the list of sales orders, and sometimes it can be handy to add an internal note to a specific order to let others know what is happening with it.

I saw you can add general notes to customers, which don’t really fit our use case, or add notes to the order, but you need to be careful with those because customers will see it. Another option would be to record an activity on each customer but the activity overview is somewhat disconnected from the order overview, so it can be hard to trace.

Things we sometimes like to take note of:

- Called customer to ask why the payment for an order is overdue
- More specific details about why delivery is postponed
- One-time exceptions to agreements that were made and why
- Why items were given away for free
- …

This allows a better handover to other colleagues if someone is away. And maybe it would be useful to see in the order overview that notes were added to an order.

Hope my request is clear! Thanks!

I’m delighted to confirm that we’ve been able to add “Private notes” to orders/invoices 🎉

Simply use the basic order details edit button:

And they will show in the basic order details section:

You can use the editor to style the notes with colours, bold, etc too!

We hope this is helpful, and thanks for the great, quick-to-implement suggestion!
