How to adjust gravity due to adding sugar or fruit puree during fermentation?

How does one account for addition of sugar or fruit puree during fermentation? i.e. after original gravity recorded

If you’re relying on Breww to calculate ABV then I think you’d have to edit the OG. to account for the contribution of the fruit / sugars. Unless there’s a better way?

My concern is that additions that trigger a change in gravity don’t seem to have any way to flag requirements to adjust gravity. Therefore potential that it’s missed.

Hi Karl,

Thank you for raising this in the community! @jon-kyme2 is absolutely correct—the only way to handle this is by adjusting the original gravity (OG). Breww uses the OG as the only reference point for the sugar content per volume in the vessel. To ensure the ABV calculation is accurate, the OG must be adjusted to account for any added sugar or puree during the brewing process.

It might be worth adding an action to adjust the OG to your recipes after sugars or purres are added so that these carry through to the brew sheets.

Let me know if you have any questions at all.
