This is now live 🎉 Optional steps on the brew sheet can be marked as **Deliberately skipped** , which is recorded separately from being done, along with who skipped it and when. So it’s always clear whether a step was consciously skipped or just missed.

A skipped step:

- no longer shows as the next step, or in the ingredients still to add, during fermentation
- is left out of the pre-brew stock check, so it doesn’t affect your inventory
- appears as “Deliberately skipped” in the brew sheet’s audit log

Steps can be marked as optional or required on the recipe, and a required step can’t be skipped. If you’d like to note why a step was skipped, the stage notes at the bottom of the brew sheet are still the place for that.

This came as part of our [production tasks release](https://community.breww.com/t/plan-who-does-what-in-the-brewery-with-assignable-production-tasks/7412). There’s more in [Using your electronic brew sheet](https://breww.com/docs/brew-sheets/).
