# Adding types to inventory

Hi John,

It is possible to create sub-types for inventory items by going to Inventory \> Tools & options \> other stock item sub-types \> + New item sub-type. Then when creating an inventory type, you can set the type to ‘other’ and the sub-type to your custom sub-type. I have attached a screenshot for your reference.

If you are creating equipment though, I would recommend doing this by going to Production \> View \> All Equipment \> + Add equipment \> Add other equipment.

If you are creating equipment though, I would recommend doing this by going to Production \> View \> All Equipment \> + Add equipment \> Add other equipment.

Your request for equipment logging - [Equipment logging](https://community.breww.com/t/equipment-logging/418) is scheduled for Q1 this year if this is why you are wanting to set up your equipment as an inventory item.
